Area of Interest

Dr. Uma Jayaram worked to establish the VRCIM lab with Dr. Sankar Jayaram. Through a successful industry/university/Government consortium, practical applications of their research have provided US manufacturing companies with technologies to compete successfully in a global economy. She is a Sloan Faculty Fellow recipient in recognition of her commitment to and contribution to engineering education. She has worked closely with many industry and government agencies in her area of expertise.

  • Lifetime Achievement Award conferred by ISAM, International Society of Agile Manufacturing in recognition of her illustrious career in teaching, research, and industry, and also of her distinguished contribution to the fields of Mechanical and Materials Engineering (2012)
  • Sloan Faculty Fellow Award to recognize commitment to and contribution to engineering education
